“I grew up never meeting my father so to be able to have a child with such an amazing, funny, thoughtful and beautiful person and to know that this kid is going to have him as a dad is the best feeling in the world. I never knew what real love was until I met Gerard and now I get to love two people that much. It’s overwhelming in the best way possible.”—Lindsey Way (via teamlynzway)
Wow! I had so much fun at Reading. I got there early and made a rookie error, I faffed. I went to the loo (oh my god, never again - that’s if you can call an open pit a toilet) and then bought merch (because I don’t have enough MCR tshirts). Then I ate half a pack of the most disgusting and overpriced chips I’ve ever eaten. I even went over to some random stage and saw some random band play one song. By now it was 11:45 so I headed for the Main Stage.
Now, if I’d gone there straight away I’d have easily made barrier and easily been more central. But no. I faffed. So instead I was 2 rows back and to the side by the big screen on the left. I watched Architects who were great, I’ve always wanted to catch them. Then I watched The Blackout who I’ve seen support MCR before and despite what a lot of people stay I really enjoyed their set. Then Bring Me the Horizon who I’ve been desperate to see for years and I really really liked. Their guitarist climbed the scaffold right in front of me and the security were having a fit.
By now I’d moved up a little and realised I had a good spot so I made the decision that I’d go without food for the day and just stay put. I wanted a good view for MCR, that was my only aim, so the decision to stand in the same spot for 12 hours was made.
I really thought the Main Stage acts were great and the time actually flew by! New Found Glory weren’t overly my thing but they played Kiss Me so I was happy. Rise Against (who I’ve seen before) didn’t really do it for me either…and Deftones (although they played the song from the Queen of the Damned soundtrack so that made me happy). The Offspring were way better than I expected and I quite enjoyed their set.
30 Seconds To Mars were out of this world. I’ve wanted to see them since forever and they put on a really great stage show, I think they’re like MCR in that they put thought into every aspect of the band and it really pays off.
Then my boys came on stage. They were fantastic, they looked so proud and just happy! I didn’t see a single bottle being thrown either. I went bloody mental, especially for Vampire Money and I cried my eyes out during Kids From Yesterday. And again during Welcome to the Black Parade…which NEVER makes me cry. When Brian May came on stage I just couldn’t believe my eyes and seeing him and Ray together made my day. I’ve never seen them look so triumphant and they deserved to be proud. I know I was proud of them.
By the end of the night I was broken, I don’t quite know how I lasted the day. Fair play to the people who camp. I must be getting old! Getting home was a stress, I got lost twice..maybe three times :s but I eventually walked through the door about 1:45am. A long day but so worth seeing MCR play the festival of their lives. One I’ll never forget!
“I am convinced that the only people worthy of consideration in this world are the unusual ones. For the common folks are like the leaves of a tree, and live and die unnoticed.”—L. Frank Baum (The Land of Oz)
